Karl Kasbauer

Karl Kasbauer (* 1949 in Linz ) is an Austrian school teacher and church musician .

Karl Kasbauer was born into a family of teachers in Linz in 1949 and spent his childhood in Waldkirchen am Wesen . During his schooldays at the Stiftsgymnasium Wilhering , Balduin Sulzer , who had just started teaching there, recognized Kasbauer's talent and thus laid the foundation for his studies of music education and history at the Mozarteum and the University of Salzburg .

From 1973 to 1992 Kasbauer taught at the BORG Grieskirchen , where he played a decisive role in establishing his own branch of music. During his tenure as a specialist inspector for music education and instrumental lessons at the regional school board for Upper Austria from 1992 to 2010, Kasbauer campaigned for greater importance in music teaching in all types of schools . For example, he was able to increase participation in regional youth singing from 50 choirs before his term in office to 114 in 2010.

From 1988 to 2000 Kasbauer was Kapellmeister of the town band Grieskirchen. As the director of the choir of the parish church of Grieskirchen, Kasbauer regularly organizes concerts with the participation of nationally important soloists such as Katharina Hebelkova and Christa Ratzenböck . One of them was a performance of Orff's Carmina Burana in 2013 with four choirs on the occasion of the four hundredth anniversary of the city ​​of Grieskirchen . In 2015 the ORF broadcast a Whitsun service accompanied by music by Kasbauer as organ soloist and choir director.

In 2009 Karl Kasbauer was awarded the professional title of Hofrat . In recognition of his achievements, he was presented in 2010 by the  Upper Austrian News as “Upper Austrian of the Day”.
