Karl Kertelge
Karl Kertelge (born April 28, 1926 in Selm ; † June 29, 2009 in Münster ) was a German Roman Catholic priest , theologian and New Testament scholar .
Life
He studied theology in Münster with Max Meinertz and Josef Gewiess and in Munich (free semester) with Friedrich Wilhelm Maier and Rudolf Schnackenburg . After ordination in 1951 in Münster, he worked as a chaplain and religion teacher in Marl and Burgsteinfurt . He received his doctorate as a research assistant at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Münster . He then went to the Trier Theological Faculty as a professor of exegesis of the New Testament . In 1976 he followed a call back to the University of Münster . In 1991 he retired .
