Karl Konrad Gutbrod (born March 10, 1844 in Stuttgart , † April 17, 1905 in Leipzig ) was a German lawyer.

From 1876 he worked as a district judge in the Württemberg judicial service. From 1877 onwards, he was initially an assistant worker in the Reich Justice Office as a councilor . From 1880 he was a lecturing council and later a real secret council. In 1892 Gutbrod was appointed director of the Reich Justice Office. During his service there he was involved in the drafting of the BGB and the HGB . The University of Tübingen awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his services. In 1895 he was appointed Deputy Plenipotentiary of Prussia at the Federal Council. In 1902 he was appointed a real privy councilor. Gutbrod was President of the Imperial Court from November 1, 1903 until his death . With his assumption of office there was the hope of advocating for a work relief for the Reichsgericht and making practical court decisions. He could not live up to these hopes because he died less than two years after taking office.
