Karl Kronfuß

Karl Kronfuß (born September 29, 1858 in Furth an der Triesting , † December 21, 1923 in Vienna ) was an Austrian civil servant and folk song collector .

Life

Karl Kronfuß studied mining science at the Leoben Mining Academy and joined the Corps Montania there in 1876 . After completing his studies, he entered the civil service at the Central Mint in Vienna in 1881, where he became director. In 1922 he retired.

He was particularly interested in researching and maintaining German folk songs in Lower Austria. From 1905 to 1923 he was chairman of the working committee of the ministerial folk song company for the collection of folk songs in Lower Austria.

Award

  • Karl Kronfuß was appointed Hofrat .
  • In 1955, Kronfußgasse in Vienna-Inzersdorf was named after him .
