Karl Ludwig Bauer
Karl Ludwig Bauer (born July 18, 1730 in Leipzig , † September 3, 1799 in Hirschberg in the Riesengebirge ) was a German teacher and classical philologist .
Life
Bauer was born in Leipzig in 1730. He attended the Thomas School in Leipzig . After graduating from high school, he studied a. a. with Johann August Ernesti at the University of Leipzig . He completed his habilitation and from 1753 worked as a private lecturer in Roman and Greek literature . In 1756 he became school principal in Lauban in Lower Silesia and in 1766 of the Lyceum in Hirschberg. He died there in 1799. Bauer was an imperial-crowned poet and a member of the Society of Sciences in Frankfurt (Oder) .
