Karl Heinrich Friedrich Luppe (born March 7, 1819 in Zerbst , † May 5, 1867 in Walternienburg ) was a German Protestant pastor and educator of the future Duke Friedrich I. von Anhalt .

Life

Karl Luppe was born as the youngest of four children of the Zerbst bookseller Johann Joachim Luppe. His mother Johanna Catharina Dorothea Luppe geb. Schmidt was the descendant of several Anhalt chamberlakies , which resulted in a close bond with the von Anhalt family . While his older brother took over his father's business, Karl Luppe studied Protestant theology at the University of Halle and was appointed tutor of the Hereditary Prince Friedrich , who was only twelve years his junior, when he was a candidate . Luppe attached great importance to a good knowledge of the Bible of his pupils - strongly influenced by tendencies oriented towards piety - which he considered to be elementary for a future ruler. After his time as an educator, Luppe took over the Grimme pastorate , but in 1862 he was assigned to the better-founded Walternienburg pastorate, whose patron was the Duke of Anhalt. The bond did not break later either, as evidenced by several visits by the future Duke Friedrich to Walternienburg as well as souvenirs from the dukes' trips abroad. Karl Luppe died achtundfünfzigjährig in Walternienburg of pulmonary consumption .
