Political career

Karl Nolle, 2009

During his school days, Nolle belonged to the falcons from 1958 . In 1963 he became a member of the SPD and IG Metall for a long time . In 1968/69 Nolle became involved in the APO in Hanover. After the Jusos turned to the left , Nolle held various functions from 1968 and was most recently the deputy chairman of the Juso district of Hanover. In 1981 he was a founding member of the Green / Alternative Citizens List (GABL) Hanover, in which he worked until 1984.

In 1986, because of his call to cast the second vote for the Greens, he was excluded from the SPD. In August 1998 he rejoined the SPD.

After his election to the Saxon state parliament, Nolle was the economic and energy policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group. In March 2006, after disagreements with Economics Minister Thomas Jurk , Nolle returned the function of economic policy spokesman to the parliamentary group. He was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the "SachsenLB" investigative committee. Nolle also belonged to the investigative committees “Paunsdorf” (investigative committee into the “influence” of CDU Prime Minister Kurt Biedenkopf and other government members on leases for the Paunsdorf administrative center, 2000) and “Sachsenring” (investigative committee into failures and wrong decisions of the state government and its members in control of the Landesbank Sachsen, 2005). Since April 2012 he was one of 19 members of the first Saxon NSU investigative committee “Neo-Nazi Terror Networks in Saxony”.

In 2001 Nolle and the SPD supported the candidacy of the FDP politician Ingolf Roßberg in the election for mayor, which was launched by the OB initiative for Dresden .

In the state elections in 2014 , he decided not to run again after fifteen years as a member of parliament and left parliament when the 6th Saxon state parliament met in 2014.

He also takes a media position on current political issues such as neo-Nazism, for example in an interview in the left-wing daily Junge Welt .

Nolle as a corruption investigator in Saxony and CDU allegations

Nolle became known for clarifying corruption and other misconducts of Saxon CDU politicians. In 2002, he gained nationwide media attention in particular during the affair surrounding the company car and apartment of Kurt Biedenkopf and his wife.

Nolle was also involved in the prosecution of the unjustified use of flood aid funds by Minister Christine Weber and the commission payments to State Secretary Wolfram Köhler , whose resignation he was instrumental in initiating. He informed about the involvement of the then Prime Minister Georg Milbradt in the affair surrounding the Sachsen LB and thus contributed to his resignation (as well as the board of the Sachsen LB) in 2008. Although the SPD had formed a coalition with the CDU since the end of 2004, Nolle also pushed ahead with parliamentary investigations into the Saxon swamp (suspected numerous criminal structures in higher offices), which earned him criticism from within the party.

In connection with the above-mentioned events, he also repeatedly criticized the Saxon public prosecutor's offices for their inaction in investigations.

On April 23, 2009, an indiscretion made it known that the Dresden public prosecutor's office was investigating Nolle because of initial suspicion of subsidy fraud. Since the investigation against Nolle began shortly before his book was published and was leaked to the press, the public prosecutor's office was accused by the Left Party and the newspapers Neues Deutschland and Junge Welt of possibly acting politically. The public prosecutor brought charges and after two and a half years the Leipzig Finance Court decided that Nolle had behaved correctly. Attempts to waive Nolle's immunity were made twice in this context, the first application was rejected by the immunity committee, the second application was rejected by the attorney general.

In June 2009 Nolle published the book Sonata for recorders and shawms together with Michael Bartsch , Christoph Jesteadt and Michael Lühmann . To deal with the collaboration between today's CDU functionaries in the SED regime .

In October 2011, Nolle hit the headlines again when he attested to the Dresden police and public prosecutor that “the rule of law and the constitution” had in parts “got completely out of hand”.
