Karl Otto Henckel
Karl Otto Henckel , also Carlos Henckel (* 1899 in Germany ; † 1984 ) was a German anatomist , anthropologist ( physical anthropology ) and racial theorist .
After receiving his doctorate, Henckel worked in Munich, among others . He completed his habilitation in 1927 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg with a thesis on the history of the development of the half-ape skull .
Henckel taught in Freiburg and carried out investigations in Palestine and Württemberg . In 1929 he became a professor at the Universidad de Concepción in Chile, where he researched the Mapuche , among other things .
His guideline for situs exercises on corpses , edited with Wilhelm Pfitzner , appeared in eleven editions by 1946. In 1950 he contributed two chapters on the bioanthropology of the Mapuches to the Handbook of South American Indians of the Smithsonian Institution .
