Karl Pfeifer (born October 5, 1900 in Cologne , † 1983 in Nideggen ) was a German painter .

Karl Pfeifer was born on October 5, 1900 as the eldest of five children of a teacher in Cologne. After completing general schooling in his hometown, after graduating from high school, he first attended the arts and crafts school in Cologne and then began studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , which he successfully completed. Subsequently he returned to Cologne, where he worked as a painter and teacher.

In 1930 he participated in a traveling exhibition in Berlin , Munich , Frankfurt and Cologne. In 1956, the Czwiklitzer gallery exhibited late impressionist and abstract paintings by Pfeifer in the art association “Die Brücke” in Cologne . In 1961, a highly regarded exhibition with industrial landscapes took place in the Küppers Gallery .

In general, Pfeifer, who until the late 1970s concentrated entirely on his artistic work and left an oeuvre comprising more than 600 paintings and 1,500 drawings , only participated in a few exhibitions. Throughout his life he mainly dealt with nature, which resulted in numerous landscape paintings.

In 1983 he died in the small town of Nideggen in the Eifel , where he owned a weekend house.

Even after his death there were exhibitions of Pfeifer's works; for example, 23 October 2010 to 7 January 2011, the exhibition Karl Pfeifer - Landscapes in the KunstForumEifel . This exhibition was organized by the Cologne doctor Erika Speiser-Freiburger, who, in addition to her work as a practicing doctor, also manages art bequests.
