Karl Rheinfurth

Karl Rheinfurth (born February 21, 1895 in Burkhards , Schotten / Oberhessen district; † May 8, 1953 in Tilleda ) was a Protestant pastor and German writer .

Life

He was the second of three sons of the Protestant pastor to Leidhecken Heinrich Rheinfurth and his wife Louise, nee. Schnittspahn, born in Burkhards. After attending grammar school in Friedberg, he studied theology in Gießen and Marburg from 1913 to 1917 . In 1918 he attended the seminary in Friedberg .

From 1918 to 1928 he was a Protestant pastor in Hesse. In 1927 his first wife Anni, geb. Depke. With her he had a son and two daughters. An illegitimate daughter was also born during this period. He married again and moved in with his second wife Margarete, geb. Pulse, according to Spaatz in Brandenburg. Here he was given the parish office in 1930. In 1936 he applied for a divorce and was then dismissed from the pastor's service. From 1936 to 1939 he worked as a freelance writer in Rathenow and in 1939 married the infant and toddler sister Ilse Marie Charlotte Enders. With her he had two sons. From 1939 to 1945 he worked alongside his literary work as an employee of the National Socialist People's Welfare in the areas of welfare and youth welfare. In 1945 he was drafted into the Volkssturm during the last months of the war and was taken prisoner by the Americans. At the end of 1945 he was released as a farm worker in Tilleda am Kyffhäuser . His wife had already been evacuated from Rathenow to Tilleda. Here he tried in vain to get back into the parish. He then worked as an author, farm worker and employee of the local government until his death.

Karl Rheinfurth had been close friends with Waldemar Bonsels since his youth . He maintained regular personal contact and a lively correspondence with him. Among other things, he was responsible for the compilation of the book The Rule of the Beast for Bonsels.
