Karl Sayer (* 1953 in Linz ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( double bass , composition ).

Live and act

Sayer studied at the Linz University of Music and at the Vienna Jazz Conservatory . Since 1980 he has been playing the double bass in the field of advanced jazz and improvisation music . He worked with musicians such as Sainkho Namtchylak , Myra Melford , Wolfgang Mitterer , Oskar Aichinger , James Blood Ulmer , Idris Muhammad , Doug Hammond , Wolfgang Puschnig , Michael Moore and Simone Kopmajer .

He played in groups such as the Karin Bachner Quartet , the RP5 Resetarits Pushning Quintet , the Annett4tett (with Annette Giesriegl ), Stefan Pelzl 's Juju , the Reinhard Micko Trio and the Otto Lechner Orchestra .

In addition, he realized his own projects such as A Dog Called Horse and Pulse . With the group Karl Sayer & The Happy Electrics (with Andy Bartosh , Oliver Gattringer , Patrice Héral and Paul Urbanek ) he recorded the album Wait - Dont Wait (1994).
