Karl Schorr

Karl Schorr (born November 18, 1924 ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga . In the top division of the GDR Football Association , he played for the BSG Progress Meerane and the SC Rotation Leipzig .

Athletic career

Schorr played for the Chemnitz Championship with SG Chemnitz Nord until 1948 , after which he was taken over by the company sports association (BSG) Fewa Chemnitz . With her he played for the Saxon football championship until 1950. As the second-rate GDR league for the 1950/51 seasonBSG Fewa was one of the founding communities. During the season she changed her name to BSG Chemie. Schorr was usually the middle runner in all 18 point games and scored three goals. He kept the role of central midfielder in the following two GDR league seasons and never missed a point game. When he left BSG Chemie at the end of the 1952/53 season, he had a record of 64 second division games and five point goals.

In the 1953/54 season Schorr played for the league promoted BSG progress Meerane. One league higher, he did not get beyond the substitute role and completed only eleven games of the 28 league league games in which he remained without scoring. For the season 1954/55 Schorr moved within the major league to the newly founded SC Rotation Leipzig. Used there in defense, he was able to conquer a regular place and played 22 of the 26 major league games played. He was not registered as a goal scorer in Leipzig either. At the end of 1955, Schorr ended his competitive sport career at the age of 31. For the 1956 season he joined the third division club BSG Rotation Leipzig .
