Chlorpropamide is a drug from the sulfonylureas class that is used to treat diabetes mellitus . It is a white, crystalline powder.
history
Chlorpropamide was on the market in Germany from 1958 and is currently no longer used. It has been available in Switzerland since 1978, but only in combination with metformin .

Chlorpropamide increases the effect of the antidiuretic hormone (ADH).
Pharmacokinetics
The half-life in the body is 25–42 hours; the chlorpropamide metabolites are unlikely to be active. Excretion occurs almost exclusively as a water-soluble sodium salt in the urine .
