Karl Sebastian Cornelius

Karl Sebastian Cornelius (born November 14, 1819 in Ronshausen , Hesse ; † November 5, 1896 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German physicist .

Cornelius studied mathematics and natural sciences in Göttingen and Marburg . In 1846 he was in casting the Doctor of Philosophy PhD . He completed his habilitation in 1850 as a private lecturer at the University of Halle , where he has since given lectures on physics and mechanics , physical geography and meteorology . He also published essays on philosophical subjects, e.g. B. in the journal for exact philosophy (Verlag Louis Pernitzsch, Leipzig), in which he tried to combine the knowledge of modern natural science with traditional belief in God. Not until 1880 was he promoted to professor .
