Karl Tetzner

Karl Tetzner (born October 26, 1914 in Duisburg , † August 18, 2008 in Icking ) was a German journalist specializing in consumer electronics . For many years he was editor-in-chief of Funkschau magazine .

Life

Tetzner became a radio amateur when he was around 20 years old and also began to write. During World War II he served as a radio operator in a submarine. After the end of the Second World War, he first opened a radio business, and from 1948 he became a freelance journalist for electronics. He worked for the magazine Hörzu , the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Handelsblatt . From 1953 Tetzner worked for the Franzis publishing house in Munich , which published the radio show . Tetzner initially stayed in Hamburg because it was one of the centers of German radio and television. In 1966 he became editor-in-chief of Funkschau. In 1971 he moved to Icking, south of Munich . He remained editor-in-chief of Funkschau until 1980; During this time he doubled the circulation of the magazine to more than 100,000 copies, the magazine appeared every 14 days with an average of 140 pages.

From 1971 to 1983 Tetzner was visiting lecturer for "Electronic Media" at the Free University of Berlin , since 1976 he has been an honorary professor there. After 1980 he ran an editorial office as a freelance journalist together with his wife Annemarie in his home town of Icking. His wife Annemarie Tetzner died in 2003.
