Karl Thumm

Karl Thumm (born December 30, 1867 in Bruchsal , † October 8, 1936 in Berlin ) was a German pharmacist and chemist .

Life

Until 1884 Thumm attended the grammar school in Bruchsal . He then completed a pharmaceutical apprenticeship and studied pharmacy at the TH Karlsruhe . In 1893 he passed the state examination in pharmacy and began his work at the TH Karlsruhe. A year later, Thumm received his doctorate. phil. in Basel .

From 1898 he worked as a research assistant at the Hygiene Institute in Hamburg . There he dealt with sewage disposal and water supply . In 1901 Thumm went to Berlin as a civil servant chemist at the royal Prussian testing and testing institute for water supply and wastewater disposal . Four years later he was appointed professor. In 1907 he became deputy director and head of the chemical department of this institution. In 1921 he was made Vice President and Department Director, and in 1926 Dr. Ing.hc appointed.
