Karl Viktor von Merode zu Merfeld (* October 28, 1782 , † April 9, 1852 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Karl Viktor von Merode zu Merfeld came from the Rhenish noble family von Merode . He was the son of Otto Matthias von Merode zu Merfeld († 1800) and his wife Maria Theresia von Elverfeldt zu Steinhausen . After the Merfeld tribe had expired, the Merfeld family inherited in 1691 to the von Merode family. By the death of Domdechanten Ernst Konstantin von Droste-Hulshoff in 1799 came the vacant Dompräbende in the hands of the Elector Maximilian Franz . Karl Viktor's mother, after she had become a widow with three unserved children, turned to the elector with the request to give this prebend to Karl Viktor. The elector complied with the request and transferred the prebend. In 1811 he renounced the benefice and married Mechtilde von Twickel in 1826 . The marriage did not result in any children, so that with Karl Viktor's death, the branch of the family died out.
