Karl Walter Ziegler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Walter Ziegler (* 25. July 1930 in Brno / Moravia ; † 17th January 2019 in Winnenden ) was a German politician of the CDU .

Ziegler was expelled to Germany with his mother and sister in 1945. Since 1999 he has been the executive chairman of the Baden-Württemberg regional association of the Federation of Expellees . In 2000 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg and in 2009 the Home Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg . He was a holder of the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.

Ziegler was a co-founder of the Junge Union district association Waiblingen and the CDU community association Plüderhausen . He was a local councilor, district councilor and regional councilor. After Guntram Palm resigned from the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg on April 23, 1992 , Ziegler was intended to replace him, but the state parliament did not meet before the end of the electoral term. Because he no longer took part in any meeting, Ziegler is also known as a “phantom member”. Something similar happened with Rebekka Schmitt-Illert . Ziegler was Palms' deputy, who was directly elected in the Schorndorf state electoral district.
