Karl Wenders

Karl Wenders (born February 22, 1841 in Erkrath ; † June 5, 1905 in Düsseldorf ) was mayor of Neuss and a member of the German Reichstag .

After attending grammar school in Düsseldorf, he studied law at the universities of Bonn , Heidelberg and Munich . In 1864 he became a trainee lawyer at the regional court in Düsseldorf. Just one year later he was elected alderman for the city of Düsseldorf, a position he held until 1877. From 1878 to 1898 he represented the Düsseldorf constituency in the 2nd Chamber of the Prussian House of Representatives . From 1882 to 1890 he was mayor of Neuss.

In 1890 he was elected to the German Reichstag as a member of the constituency of Düsseldorf 4 (city and district of Düsseldorf), where he joined the faction of the center . He was a member of the Reichstag until 1898.

In Neuss the "Wendersplatz" has been named in his honor.
