Karl Windthorst

Karl Windthorst (born February 6, 1836 in Halle (Westphalia) ; † August 22, 1900 ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Windthorst held the post of Lord Mayor in Münster from 1887 to 1897 . During this time he also represented his city in the Prussian manor house .

Windthorst was married to Josefa Windthorst, née Coppenrath. In their will, both created the "Karl and Josefa Windthorst Foundation" with a capital of RM 25,000.

The centrally located Windthorststrasse was named in memory of Karl Windthorst, who was also chairman of the Munster poor commission .
