Karl Ernst Adolf Freiherr von Schrader (born September 30, 1848 in Bliestorf , † April 11, 1896 in Potsdam ) was a German manor owner and court official.

Life

Karl von Schrader was born as the son of the district administrator and member of the Lauenburg state parliament August Louis Detlev von Schrader and Adolfine Friederike geb. from Beulwitz . He studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . He became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg , but left there as a fire fox and joined the Corps Borussia Bonn in 1869 . He became the owner of a manor on Bliestorf, Glienau and Kastorf .

In 1881, von Schrader was at the center of an attempt by Otto von Bismarck to influence the 1881 Reichstag election in the constituency of Schleswig-Holstein 10 (Duchy of Lauenburg), his home constituency, in the interests of the conservatives. The plan to discredit the promising candidate of the left-wing liberals, Chamber Councilor Heinrich Berling , "by means of an inadequately staged intrigue" and to get Schrader, friend of the Bismarck family and corps brother of Herbert von Bismarck , to a seat in the Reichstag, ended in a scandal. In fact, the national liberal candidate August Westphal was elected with a large majority .
