August Westphal

August Friedrich Gottfried Westphal (born November 4, 1834 in Schwerin ; † August 11, 1890 ) was a landlord and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Westphal attended the Gymnasium Fridericianum in Schwerin. From 1835 to 1861 he worked as a practical farmer on the Meezen and Holdorf estates near Gadebusch in Mecklenburg-Schwerin . From 1861 he was the tenant of the Count of Kielmannseggschen Vorwerk Melusinenthal, which belonged to the County of Gülzow in Lauenburg .

In a by-election on September 25, 1879 for the resigned MP Friedrich Hammacher , he became a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Schleswig-Holstein 10 (Lauenburg) and the National Liberal Party . He exercised this mandate until 1884, after he was able to win the Reichstag election in 1881 despite the manipulation of District Administrator Albert von Bennigsen-Foerder .
