Karl-Heinz Volz (born March 30, 1947 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German soccer player .

career

The goalkeeper played for Kickers Offenbach for three years . While he was still on the bench in his first year in the Bundesliga , after the Kickers were relegated in 1969 and immediately returned to the Bundesliga in 1970, he was Offenbach's regular goalkeeper in the 1970/71 season . With the OFC he also won the DFB Cup in 1970 .

After Offenbach was relegated again in 1971, Volz moved to 1. FC Köln . When Cologne goalkeeper Gerhard Welz showed great weaknesses on the fourth matchday in the 2: 6 against FC Schalke 04 , coach Gyula Lóránt Volz gave a chance in the next game against Fortuna Düsseldorf . With a half-time score of 0: 2, however, he was immediately replaced again. This was his only appearance for Cologne in the Bundesliga, only in the DFB Cup he was allowed to play twice against lower-class teams. In 1972 he left Cologne again and went to the Hessian amateur league team FSV Frankfurt . With the Bornheimers in the 1972/73 season, Volz was promoted to what was then the second highest division, the Regionalliga Süd . However, this was replaced after the 1973/74 season by the two-pronged 2nd Bundesliga , for which the FSV could not qualify despite an eleventh place and had to compete again in 1974/75 in the amateur camp. Just one year later, he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga South. From 1975 to 1980 Volz played with the FSV for five years in the 2nd Bundesliga and played 153 games during this time.

After he had to end his career in 1980 because of a knee injury, he was an assistant coach of the FSV for nine months. He then worked as a trainer in the amateur field in Mörfelden, Langenselbold, Klein-Karben and Bad Vilbel.
