Karlsberg (Harrislee)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karlsberg (more rarely also: Carlsberg ; Danish Carlsbjerg ) is a place in the municipality of Harrislee . The scattered settlement is on the German-Danish border near Krusau , in the middle of the Krusau tunnel valley , along the Karlsbergweg there.

background

The origin of the name and age of the small town of Karlsberg are unclear. The Niehuus , southwest of Karlsberg, was built in the 14th century and the Kupfermühle , east of Karlsberg, was apparently built in the 17th century. In earlier times the Karlsbergweg, which connects Niehuus, Karlsberg and Kupfermühle, was apparently also called the Karlsberger Weg.

Brick production had gained in importance in the area on the Flensburg Fjord since the Middle Ages . There was probably a brickworks on Karlsbergweg since the 18th century . After the referendum in Schleswig in 1920, today's German-Danish border was established. As a result , the customs settlement was established in 1922 east of Karlsberg, at the Klueser Wald . In 1876 the already mentioned brickworks was bought by the parcelist Georg Lachsmund from Mecklenburg . In this context, the aforementioned Crimean brickworks was first mentioned in writing. The Krim Brickworks ceased operations in 1931 and was abandoned a year later. The name "Crimea" was then retained as a field name on some municipal and city maps of the area .

The scattered settlement on Karlsbergweg today consists of more than ten buildings. Not far away, on the Neuwaldeck road, on the northern edge of Niehuusfeld , near the Klueser Wald, is another particularly large courtyard complex ( location ). More recently, a hiking trail has been laid out along Karlsberg . In this context, a wind harp was set up near Karlsberg ( Lage ). The landscape near Karlsberg is primarily characterized by fields and meadows. In a forerunner area of the Klueser Forest, east of Karlsberg, there is also a small pond ( location ).

  15. Another name that is entered on many area maps not far from Karlsberg is "Vogelsang". Possibly it is a farm, a former settlement name or a forest section of the Klueser Wald ( location ). The assignment of the term is unclear, among other things because the term Vogelsang in the Flensburg area is usually associated with the Vogelsang area near Engelsby ; See Harrislee.
