Karolinenhöhe is a wasteland of the Upper Franconian town of Lichtenfels in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The wasteland is about five kilometers east of Lichtenfels on a northern slope about 60 meters above the main valley . A road from Lichtenfels to Trieb leads past the place with its country inn , which was the main connection route until 1909.

history

In 1823, the Bavarian Queen Karoline wrote a letter to commemorate a trip through a vantage point with a view of the valleys of Main and Rodach , which was known until then as the "Kleine Waldspitze von Krappenberg" and was built on after 1813. The building, attested as an inn since 1855, was named Karolinenhöhe in 1827. The house number 59, "Karolinenhoehe", with the landlord and economist Josef Schuberth is recorded in the Trieber property tax register in 1855.

In 1862, Karolinenhöhe, which had belonged to the rural community of Trieb since 1818, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Lichtenfels .

In 1871 Karolinenhöhe had 14 residents and 6 buildings. The responsible Catholic church was in Lichtenfels, 5.5 kilometers away, and the school in Trieb, 0.5 kilometers away. In 1900 the wasteland had one residential building and six residents. In 1925 six people lived in the apartment building. The responsible Protestant parish was in Michelau , 5.0 kilometers away , and the Protestant school in Schwürbitz, 3.7 kilometers away . In 1950 there were ten residents and one residential building.

In 1970 and 1987 Karolinenhöhe had five residents.

On January 1, 1978 Trieb was incorporated into the town of Lichtenfels with the Karolinenhöhe community.
