Karsten Gundermann
Karsten Gundermann (born October 1, 1966 in Dresden ) is a German composer . He lives as a freelance composer in Hamburg .
Life
He attended Hans Jürgen Wenzel 's children's composer class and then studied with Udo Zimmermann at the Dresden University of Music .
From 1990 he studied at the National Academy for Chinese Theater in Beijing . In 1993 he composed the Peking opera Die Nachtigall based on a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen . The opera was performed in 2010 as part of the Rheingau Music Festival in the Palais am Zoo in Frankfurt am Main .
In 2003 he composed the Sino-German seasons and times of the day based on Goethe's eponymous cycle of poems on behalf of the RIAS Chamber Choir and Concerto Köln . In June 2010 his compositional arrangement of Le cinesi , a baroque opera with music by Christoph Willibald Gluck and a libretto by Pietro Metastasio , premiered at the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival.
