Karsten Hohage (* 1968 in Bonn ) is a German writer and slam poet . He also appears under the pseudonym "Grohacke".

Life

Hohage grew up in Darmstadt , where he attended the Georg Büchner School until 1988 . He studied geology in Freiburg i.Br. and Canada and now lives with his wife and child in Weinheim near Heidelberg .

He is a member of the Guilelmia Lower Saxony singers in Freiburg , his experiences during his student days are the subject of his novel Male WG with compulsory drinking .

1996–1998 Hohage worked as an editor for the computer game magazine Bestseller Games . In 2003 he took part in a poetry slam for the first time. Since then he has been a participant in the German-language Poetry Slam championships several times (2004–2011) and has repeatedly reached the final round - in a team (2005, 2008) and individually (2009). In 2012 he was co-organizer and moderator of the 2012 slam in Heidelberg and Mannheim. Hohage is a founding member of the Heidelberg reading stage “General Assembly” and moderates poetry slams in Heidelberg and Mannheim.
