Karsten Kredel (* 1973 ) is a German publisher and translator .

He studied American, German and African literature in Berlin and Harvard . Kredel, he worked as a translator and as a freelancer in the culture department of the taz , was an editor at Suhrkamp Verlag from 2005 and headed the literature program of Eichborn Verlag from June 1, 2009 and, from July 2011 to December 2013, the international literature department at Berliner Publishers Suhrkamp and Insel . Since 2014 he has been the successor to Elisabeth Ruge Hanser Berlin, the daughter of Carl Hanser Verlag in Berlin. In summer 2020, Kredel will succeed Barbara Laugwitz as the new managing director of Ullstein Buchverlage .
