Systematics and taxonomy
The British botanist Adrian Hardy Haworth described the plant in 1821 under the taxon Megasea ciliata . This taxon forms the Basionym for the description of the Austrian 1831 botanists Kaspar Maria Sternberg , which under the taxon the plant Bergenia ciliata the genus Bergenia zuordnete.
The species forms hybrids with Bergenia cordifolia , Bergenia purpurascens and Bergenia stracheyi . In addition to the nominate form Bergenia ciliata f. ciliata was also a Bergenia ciliata f. ligulata Yeo described.
use
The Kashmir Bergenia is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and groups of trees. Bergenia ciliata f. ciliata has been in culture since 1843 at the latest, Bergenia ciliata f. ligulata since 1840 at the latest.
