Kaspar Zumkley

Kaspar Zumkley (rarely also Caspar or Casparus ; born October 20, 1732 in Münster , † November 17, 1794 ) was a German Jesuit and educator .

Life

Zumkley received his education at the Jesuit College in Münster , where he completed his philosophical studies. On October 20, 1749 he was accepted into the Jesuit order. After the Jesuit order was repealed in 1773, it was won over by Franz von Fürstenberg as an advisor. He was involved in its school reform in the field of mathematics .

Zumkley was the rector of the Paulinum grammar school from 1774 to 1794 , where various reform ideas from Fürstenberg's circle were tested. He also taught mathematics at the Military Academy in Münster. In addition, after opening in 1780, he was given a full professorship in mathematics at the University of Münster . In addition, he was the supervisor of all high schools in the Hochstift Münster . He also held the office of librarian at the Bibliotheca Paulina and was a member of the theological examination committee.

Zumkley was appointed to the clergy .
