Kass P. Morgan (born July 21, 1984 in New York ) is an American editor and author , best known for her dystopian novel series The 100 , which is the basis for the television series The 100 of the same name .

Life

Kass Morgan grew up in Brooklyn , New York, until she was 10 , after which the family moved to Santa Monica , California . She graduated from Brown University with a bachelor's degree in English and History and then completed her Masters in 19th Century Literature from Oxford University in England. Morgan then returned to the United States to work in New York as an editor in children's and youth literature publishing.

It was there that the book packager and television producer Alloy Entertainment approached Morgan with an idea for a novel. Her four-part series of novels "The 100" arose from the concept of the story of one hundred young criminals who are sent back to the radioactively contaminated earth from an orbiting space station in order to repopulate it. While Morgan was still writing the first novel, The CW began turning the 100 into a television series.
