The Kasteler Rowing and Canoeing Society 1880 e. V. (KRKG) is a water sports club . Originally founded in Mainz-Kastel , it is now based in neighboring Mainz-Kostheim .
Today's KRKG goes back to the Casteler Ruder-Gesellschaft founded in 1880 . This makes it one of the oldest sports clubs in the Rhine-Main area . In 1938 the Casteler Ruder-Gesellschaft merged in 1880 with the Germania rowing club in 1895 and the water sports club in 1933 to form the Mainz-Kasteler rowing society Germania 1880 . The last time the association was renamed the Kasteler Ruder- und Kanu-Gesellschaft in 1880 after the Second World War .
The club is divided into three main branches: rowing , canoeing and tennis . The water sports divisions each have a racing and hiking sports department. The KRKG has a total of around 200 members.
The boathouse of KRKG located at Rhine kilometer 497.5 on the right bank Peninsula Maaraue , opposite the district Mainer Kostheim. The association also operates an international campsite there .
