Katalin Kristo (born December 1, 1983 in Miercurea Ciuc ) is a former Romanian short tracker . She took part in three Olympic Games between 2002 and 2010 and was the only Romanian participant in the short track.

She made her first international appearances in 2000. She first took part in the Junior World Championships and reached the semi-finals as the best result over 1500 m, later she started for the first time in the adult area at the European Championships in Bormio , where she could not survive the heats. In January 2001 she made her debut in Trnava in the World Cup and reached the semifinals in her first World Cup race over 1500 m. In the same season she finally took part in her first world championship in the adult area, but dropped out there in her preliminary stages.

Kristo first played a full season in 2001/02 . She took part in all six World Cups and was able to reach the semi-finals over 1500 m twice. Also at the European Championships in Grenoble , reaching the semi-finals over 1500 m was her best result. Kristo qualified for the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City , where she was the youngest participant in the Romanian team. She started over all three individual distances, but was eliminated after the preliminary run. In the following years Kristo did not take part in any other World Cups and only started in the international championships that took place in Europe, but without improving the results. It was not until the end of the 2004/05 season that Kristo returned to two World Cup races. She achieved her best results of the season at the European Championships in Turin and the World Championships in Beijing , where she reached the semi-finals over 1500 m. Kristo played the entire 2005/06 Olympic season . At the four World Cups, two quarterfinals remained her best results. The European Championship in Krynica-Zdrój was more successful , where Kristo reached the semifinals over 1000 m and 1500 m. She took part in her second Olympic Games in Turin and started again in all three individual competitions, but dropped out in the preliminary stages.

In the following season 2006/07 Kristo only took part in one World Cup, where she also reached the semi-finals over 1500 m as at the end of the season at the World Cup in Milan . The 2007/08 season then played Kristo again completely. However, she did not reach a semi-finals at any of the six World Cups and not even at the World Championship in Gangneung . Her best results of the season were the semi-finals over 1000 m and 1500 m at the European Championships in Ventspils . Kristo could not improve in the 2008/09 season in four World Cup appearances and missed participation in the World and European Championships. In her last season, 2009/10 , Kristo took part in all four World Cups, but could not record as the best result more than a quarter-finals over 1500 m. Over this distance, however, she qualified for her third Olympic Games in Vancouver , where she was eliminated in the preliminary stages. After the Games, Kristo ended her active career.
