Katalin Ottományi (* 1956 ) is a Hungarian archaeologist specializing in Provincial Roman Archeology .

Live and act

Katalin Ottományi studied library history at the Faculty of Humanities at Eötvös Loránd University from 1975 to 1976 , archeology from 1975 to 1980 and Latin language and literature from 1976 to 1981 . In 1982 she received a degree in Provincial Roman Archeology with a thesis on smoothed ceramics in Pannonia . In 1988, she was with a work on the main types of ceramics in Pannonia PhD . In 1997 she received her Ph.D. in history of archeology.

She is a research assistant in the Museology Department of the Károly Ferenczy Museum in Szentendre .

Her research interests are the history of the Roman Empire , in particular the province of Pannonia, early Roman migration , late Roman ceramic research , rural Roman settlements, particularly in Pest County , the Celtic- Roman transition period and burial rites .

She led several excavations and published her research results in over 50 articles. In 1984 an emergency excavation was carried out in the north vicus of Fort Matrica under her leadership . In 1991 she published the complete ceramic finds from Burgus Leányfalu . From 2002 to 2003 she led the excavation of a burial ground in Budaörs . From 2004 to 2006 she conducted explorations in the Szentendre Castle .
