Katensen is a village in the Lower Saxony municipality of Uetze , about 30 km east of Hanover .

history

Katensen was first mentioned in a document in 1265.

Katensen was often referred to as Muckstadt or Klein Muckstadt in the past . Sei het uppemucket , as it is called in Low German (“they have mucked up”), because pastures and arable land on the Katenser Flur were used by farmers from the neighborhood after the redistribution around 1850. Another reason for disputes were the logging rights in the Catenser Bruch an der Fuhse and hunting in the duck swamp .

Around 1700 the place had a school house and two shepherds' houses. In 1852 today's main road was laid out as a dirt road. It was not paved until 1958.

In 1881 a hand pressure syringe was purchased. The Peace Oak was planted in 1909 and the new school was built in 1912. From 1923 to 1927, oil was drilled in Katensen, which was still written “Catensen” at the time . The place name "Katensen" has only been written since 1934.

In April 2014, hunters discovered traces of a wolf near Katensen . The animal, which is probably a loner in transit, had previously been seen by a truck driver.
