Schwüblingsen ( Swübbelingsen in Low German ) is a village in the Lower Saxony municipality of Uetze , about 30 km east of Hanover .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1053 as Suitbaldigehusun . This is an education for the Old Low German male name Swīthbald (to swīthi 'strong' and soon 'bold') and means (e) 'in the houses of the Swīthbaldinge' (ie from Swīthbald's people). The development to the current form of the name is explained by assimilation ( Swit [h] bald-> Swipbald-> Swibbel- ) and shortening ( -ingehusun> -ingsen ).

In 1303 Duke Otto von Braunschweig sold the village to the Wienhausen monastery . The chapel was built in 1305.

With a document dated January 7, 1446, Propst Helmholt, Abbess Katharina von Hoya, Prioress Mette von Oppershausen and the convent of the Wienhausen monastery stated that Duke Friedrich von Braunschweig and Lüneburg had created a pond around their goods "to deme buge", namely around two farms, the income of which consisted of 15 shillings, two bushels of rye, two clamping services to Schwüblingsen, four days of manual service , five smoking hens, Meierung and Abmeierung at both farms and 21 pfennigs at the court of the church lord there, for which the duke gave them his court in Flackenhorst as compensation at Wienhausen subject to certain rights.

The first school was founded in 1650. From 1723 the village belonged to the parish of Sievershausen and administratively from 1859 to the Burgdorf office . The syringe house was built in 1882. The establishment of its own cemetery took place in 1883, and in 1905 the village saw the establishment of a telegraph station with a public telephone box.

On the night of June 1st to June 2nd, 1781, a fire broke out in Schwüblingsen, which affected two house owners. We are talking about Johann Christoph Niewerts, whose house had only been cremated the previous year, and Hans Hinrich Bethmann, who both received their fire insurance money of 150 and 175 Reichstalers at the office in Meinersen on June 29, 1781 .

In the statistical handbook for the Kingdom of Hanover by Harseim and Schlüter, Schwüblingsen is referred to in 1848 as a “branch” of the Sievershausen church alongside Arpke , Dollbergen , Oelerse and Röhrse. It goes on to say: "1 school in Schwüblingsen, including Beerbusch."

A youth care committee was formed in 1921 and the sports club was founded in 1922. The Schwüblingsen volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1939 and since then has provided fire protection and general help, especially at the local level. In 1961 the extension of the chapel was inaugurated. The war memorial in front of the chapel was dismantled in 1963 and placed in the cemetery. In 1970 it joined the Arpke community.

The sports home was inaugurated in 1974. In 1986 the first Labes nativity play took place.

A devastating storm in 1997 changed the appearance of the village permanently. He destroyed about 80 percent of the tree population that characterizes the site. Schwüblingsen achieved notoriety for a short time because television broadcasters reported on the destruction. Coming from Sievershausen , two cyclones drew a swath of devastation through the town, the Beerbusch and the Burgdorfer Holz at speeds of up to 120 km / h . Trees were uprooted, roofs covered and basements overflowed with water. People were not harmed. The clean-up work took about two weeks, with the village community standing firmly together in times of need. Many donations were received for repair work, and 800 new trees were planted. The village fell victim to storms as early as 1941 and 1951.

In September 2005 the 700th anniversary of the existence of the Christ Church was celebrated.
