Katerina von Bennigsen (* in Minsk ) is a German opera and operetta singer with a soprano and coloratura soprano voice .

Live and act

The artist grew up in Hamburg and was a young student in singing and piano at the Lübeck University of Music during her school days . After graduating from high school, she moved to the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . Her singing teachers Burkhard Kehring and Hanna Schwarz were there . She took master classes a. a. with Montserrat Caballé , Helen Donath , and Edda Moser .

Katerina von Bennigsen was a young artist scholarship holder of the Rotary Club Kieler Förder and also received scholarships from the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live Music Now". Even during her studies, she excelled in various opera productions, such as at the Hamburg State Opera as BUBIKOPF in the Kaiser von Atlantis, as EDELDAME in Rameaux 'Les Indes Galantes and at the Hamburg Chamber Opera as KÖNIGIN DER NACHT.

From 2014 to 2016 she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Cottbus State Theater . There she sang the following roles: ÄNNCHEN, BLONDE, KÖNIGIN DER NACHT, FRASQUITA, OTTILIE in How once in May, PRINCESSIN in six come through the world, FIFTH MAID in Elektra and TEBALDO and UNA VOCE DAL CIELO in Don Carlos. In the 2016/17 season Katerina von Bennigsen was guest at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz as LUISE in the world premiere of Johanna Doderer's opera Liliomf and as FRAU ANDERSSEN in The Smile of a Summer Night. She also played the title role in the concert opera PINOCCHIO by Gloria Bruni in the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg . In March 2017 she sang ADELE in Die Fledermaus and OTTILIE in Im Weissen Rössl at the Dresden State Operetta. In the 2017/18 season the soprano appeared at Theater Kiel as JEMMY in Guillaume Tell and as FIAKERMILLI in Arabella. In summer 2018 she appeared at the Mörbisch Seefestspiele as LISA in Kálmán's Countess Mariza and in 2019 as Wed in Lehár's Land of Smiles.

She is currently a member of the ensemble at the Dresden State Opera .

Katerina von Bennigsen is a prizewinner and finalist of numerous international singing competitions such as u. a. the international singing competition "Young Voices" in Tallinn (1st prize, best interpretation), "National Competition" in Berlin, "Ferruccio Tagliavini" in Deutschlandsberg, "Mario Lanza" in Filignano (special price), "Alfredo Giacomotti" in Stradella and "Benvenuto Franci ”in Pienza.
