Burkhard Kehring is a classical pianist and song accompanist .

Life

Burkhard Kehring received lessons in song design from Ralf Gothóni , Gernot Kahl and Martin Katz . He has been working internationally as a song accompanist since 1991 and has performed a. a. at the Schubertiade Vorarlberg , at KlangBogen Wien , in the Wigmore Hall London, at the Bergen Music Festival, in the Schubert Serenades in New York or at the Ravinia Festival Chicago. His musical partners include Christiane Oelze , Michaela Kaune , Christiane Iven , Randi Stene , Claudia Barainsky , Christiane Karg , Lini Gong, Robert Holl , Kwangchul Youn , Roman Trekel , Jan Kobow , Christian Elsner , Lothar Odinius , Daniel Behle , Ilker Arcayürek , Daniel Johannsen , Andreas Schmidt and Dietrich Henschel . Together with speakers such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau , Udo Samel and Gert Westphal , he gave melodrama concerts.

From 1996 to 2006, the pianist conceived and played his own song recitals for Hugo Wolf , Franz Schubert , Robert Schumann and the Second Vienna School . His project “Divan of Song” was inaugurated at the Beethovenfest Bonn 2014, which has since been devoted to exploring new global perspectives for the art song with concerts, courses and workshops in Germany, Israel, Iran, China and Korea .

The world premieres of new song compositions, in which Burkhard Kehring was involved as a pianist, include works by Fabián Panisello , Christoph Coburger, Wolfgang Florey , Otfried Büsing , Hanbiel Choi, Johanna Doderer , Mahdis Golzar Kashani, Roodabe Shamloo, Param Vir, Dai Fujikura , Nizar Elkhater, Shen Ye, and Myung-Sun Lee.

Kehring has been Professor of Lied Design at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater since 2003 , where he initiated a new master's degree in song design (2008), the Hamburg Gustav Mahler Lied Competition (2014) and the Global Art Song course (2017). Together with the accompanists Peter Nelson, Axel Bauni, Ulrich Eisenlohr and Jan Philip Schulze, he is one of the founding members of the German Lied Academy in Trossingen and has given song master classes in Europe, North America and Asia.
