Katharina von Habsburg (* around 1256 in Rheinfelden ; † April 4, 1282 in Landshut ) was born as the third child of King Rudolf I from his marriage to Gertrud von Hohenberg . She married Duke Otto III around 1279 . of Lower Bavaria , who later also became King of Hungary.

During the short-term rapprochement between Bavaria and Austria, a marriage agreement was made between Duke Heinrich XIII. of Lower Bavaria met with Rudolf I. Heinrich's eldest son Otto was to marry Katharina, along with a 40,000 mark dowry ; In return for this sum Heinrich demanded the land ob der Enns (today's Upper Austria ) as a pledge. This agreement secured Rudolf the free way to Vienna in the first decisive argument with Ottokar II Přemysl .

The wedding took place in Vienna around 1279. However, the rapprochement was short-lived: After Rudolf's success in Austria, Heinrich had to forego the land above the Enns, and the dowry was reduced to 3,000 marks. Katharina died after just three years of marriage in Landshut and was buried in the Seligenthal monastery near Landshut . With Otto III. she had two children, the twins Rudolf and Heinrich, who, however, had died in the year of their birth, 1280. In an arbitration award of 1283 it was decided that Heinrich had to return the pledged goods to Rudolf's successor Albrecht I for a payment of 3,000 marks .
