Katharina von Schaumberg
Katharina von Schaumberg (* 14th century; † 1411 in Himmelkron Monastery ) was abbess of Himmelkron Monastery from 1410 until her death .
origin
Katharina von Schaumberg came from the Thuringian - Franconian noble family of the Lords of Schaumberg . The starting point of the family is the ancestral castle Schaumburg in southern Thuringia on the border with Bavaria . According to the family researcher Oskar von Schaumberg, she could have been born before 1356 as the daughter of Otto IV von Schaumberg (* around 1300; † 1368) and his second wife Kunne von Aufseß , who married before 1356 . From the founding deed of the monastery it is certain that Katharina is a great-granddaughter of Eberhard IV. Von Schaumberg (* around 1240; † 1300), which does not contradict Schaumberg's thesis.
Career
Katharina von Schaumburg provided the church and parish office in Trebgast with her own funds. She is considered the founder of the Rochus Chapel and the parish forest of Trebgast. She died in Himmelkron Monastery and was buried in a crypt in the St. Mary's Church of the monastery. On her grave stone the foam Bergische family coat of arms is displayed, deviating from the usual design, however, is that with an open air instead of Heide hull as a crest provided. The inscription on the tombstone is largely worn and illegible.
A parish registry names an otherwise unknown Leukardis as her successor as abbess, but according to the usual sequence it is Longa von Kotzau .
