Kathrin Sonnenholzner (* 1956 in Munich ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2003 to 2018 she was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .

Life

After finishing school in Munich, Kathrin Sonnenholzner studied medicine in Grenoble , Brussels , Aachen and Munich . She is married and has three children. In addition to her party-political engagement, she is active in the workers' welfare organization , the association “ Women help women ” and the association Against Forgetting - For Democracy .

Kathrin Sonnenholzner joined the SPD in 1974 and was a member of the Jesenwang municipal council from 1996 to 2009 . From 2002 she took over the office of district councilor in the Fürstenfeldbruck district and has been parliamentary group leader there since 2005. From 1997 to 2003 she was chairwoman of the Fürstenfeldbruck sub-district within the SPD.

In 2003 she was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament. In her 15th electoral term she was a member of the Committee on Social, Health and Family Policy and the Committee on Agriculture and Forest Policy. Since 2008 she has been a member of the Environment and Health Committee. Since 2003 she has been the health policy spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group.

Via the district list of Upper Bavaria , she was re-elected to the Bavarian state parliament in the state elections in 2008 . In her direct voting group 117 Fürstenfeldbruck-Ost she took second place with 13,616 first votes (19.1%).

Kathrin Sonnenholzner is the deputy chairwoman of the Bavarian State Health Council .

After the state elections in 2018 , she left the state parliament.

Awards

On February 1, 2019, she was awarded the Bavarian Constitutional Medal in silver.
