Katrin Beinroth

Katrin Beinroth , married Simper (born September 15, 1981 in Celle ; † June 23, 2020 ), was a German judoka (4th Dan ). She was a trainer with the JudoTeam Hannover and fought in the Judo Bundesliga for the UJKC Potsdam . With a weight of about 115 kg, she fought in the heavyweight class (over 78 kg).

Private

Beinroth graduated from the Humboldt School in Hanover in 2001 . She studied teaching in German and chemistry. She had been married since August 2013 and was given the married name Simper . She died on June 23, 2020 at the age of 38.

Career

Beinroth started out with judo in 1988 at TuS Celle before moving to MTV Celle in 1995. After another change in 1998 to TuS Hermannsburg , where she was looked after by Sven Loll , among others , her career began with a third place at the German Junior Championships (U20). In 1999, Beinroth took first place at the junior championships and a silver medal at the U20 European championships in Rome . At the German individual championships she was third behind Sandra Köppen and Katja Gerber . The following year she was able to defend her junior title and won the German individual championships for the first time. In 2001 she switched to JudoTeam Hannover, and in the following year a shoulder injury slowed her down.

2003 was the most successful year in Beinroth's active career. She won the German championships for the second time and was called up for the 2003 European championships in Düsseldorf three weeks before the tournament due to an injury to Katja Gerber. She won the gold medal in the open class against the Russian Irina Rodina , surprisingly for herself. In the same year she competed at the World Championships in Osaka , but lost in the first round of the open class against the Dutch light heavyweight Claudia Zwiers .

At her second European championships in Bucharest in 2004, she won the bronze medal in the heavyweight division by beating the Russian Elena Ivachenko in the small final and was able to defend her title in the German championships. In 2005 she was able to repeat her performance. At the European Championships in Rotterdam , she was eliminated against the Russian Tea Dongusashvili , but defeated the French Anne-Sophie Mondière prematurely in the small final and again reached third place. At the German championships in Wuppertal, Beinroth won her fourth and last title. At the World Cup participation in Cairo in the same year, she only reached the second round, in which she lost to the Venezuelan Giovanna Blanco in the heavyweight division. In 2006 she came third and in 2007 and 2008 second place in the German championships.
