Katrin Hentschel

Katrin Hentschel (* 1967 in Berlin ) is a German theater director, author, dramaturge and film director. From 2014 to 2017 she was chief stage director and deputy director of the Theater an der Parkaue / Junge Staatstheater Berlin.

Life

Katrin Hentschel graduated from high school in 1986 at the extended secondary school "Carl von Ossietzky" and initially studied teaching at the PH in Zwickau. In 1989 she went to the Greifswald Theater as assistant dramaturge with director Thomas Roth , then for a year as assistant director at the Schillertheater Berlin (key directors: Elke Lang , Alexander Lang and Benno Besson ) .;

From 1991 to 1995 Hentschel studied acting directing at the HfSK “Ernst Busch” and subsequently founded the theater group Hamletbüro in Berlin. She assisted Leander Haussmann for the last time at the Volksbühne Berlin in 1996 and worked for Matthias Lilienthal as a dramaturgy assistant.

In 1999 she staged the senior year of the HFF Konrad Wolf / media-specific drama “Platonow”. From 1997 to 2001 she worked at the Berlin film production company zero film as an assistant director for Didi Danquart and in 2000 became the author and director of the 5-part documentary soap Der Tanzpalast about the Friedrichstadtpalast Berlin (Arte and RBB, production: Zero film Berlin).

In 2007 Hentschel moved to Freiburg and worked as a guest dramaturge and director at the Freiburg Theater under the artistic director Barbara Mundel . There she staged for the first time with puppeteers. In Freiburg she studied art history for four semesters in parallel.

In 2014, Hentschel became senior director of the Theater an der Parkaue / Junge Staatstheater Berlin.
