Rainer Sander

Rainer Sander (born June 11, 1943 in Königs Wusterhausen ) is a German jazz musician ( clarinet , alto saxophone , composition , arrangement ) and a specialist in gastroenterology .

Sander received instrumental lessons from Heinz Both between 1958 and 1963 . In Hanover he was a member of Jonny's New Orleans jazz band from 1961 to 1963 . During his medical studies at the Philipps University of Marburg (license to practice medicine and doctorate in 1970) he belonged to the New College Six . From 1970 he worked in Munich, first at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , then as a doctor at the municipal hospital in Munich-Neuperlach or Harlaching, and since 2003 in his own practice. He is a founding member of the Allotria Jazzband , which he has been leading since 1982. At the end of the 1990s he also founded Swing Wing , a swing quartet with Thilo Wagner , Peter Cischeck and Gregor Beck , with whom he also performs. He has also released records with both bands. He also recorded with Ladia's Dixie tape .
