Heinz Both

Heinz Both (born September 10, 1924 in Braunschweig ; † August 28, 2010 in Hanover ) was a German jazz and entertainment musician ( accordion , clarinet ), composer , arranger , band leader and music teacher who was primarily active in the Hanover music scene . Both had first music lessons as a choirboy at the age of ten and received private lessons on the accordion in Hanover. In 1939 he made his first recordings at the Hanover Municipal Conservatory, where he studied clarinet, piano, violin, music theory and orchestral playing; in addition, he had engagements with a small cast in cafes. In 1942 he was drafted into the army and served there as first clarinetist in the Hanover Music Train of the Reich Labor Service . After the war he played for the British occupation army in Hanover.
