Christoph Nix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christoph Nix (born October 26, 1954 in Ehringshausen ) is a German lawyer and theater director . Since the 2006/2007 season, Nix has been the artistic director of the Stadttheater Konstanz .

Live and act

jurist

After graduating from high school in 1973 in Herborn , Christoph Nix studied law and political science at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . After completing his legal clerkship at the Frankfurt am Main Regional Court , he passed the second state examination in 1985 . 1988 Nix was with a dissertation on the freedom of association in the prison at the University of Bremen with magna cum laude for Dr. jur. PhD.

Nix practiced his practice in Gießen from 1985 to 1990 , was then admitted as a lawyer at the Higher Regional Court in Berlin and is still active as a lawyer in the law firm Gerhard Zahner und Nix. He worked nationwide as a criminal defense lawyer , especially in the area of capital crimes , and made a name for himself in the law of retrial .

From 1988 Nix taught criminal law at the Evangelical University of Hanover. In 1990 Christoph Nix was appointed professor at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences in Hanover . He also taught at the Humboldt University Berlin from 1992 to 2003, the University of the Arts Berlin 2004/2005 and at the University of Kassel . Since 2006 he has been teaching juvenile criminal law at the University of Bremen and lecturing at the University of Zurich . Christoph Nix has over 150 publications and has written standard works on stage law, youth welfare and youth criminal law. In spring 2011 his textbook Introduction to Juvenile Criminal Law was published together with Winfried Möller and Carsten Schütz.

Since 2011, Nix has also been an honorary professor at the University of Bremen.

theatre

In the 1980s Nix learned the character of the clown from the two clowns Bernd Bartsch and Reinhard Kaul. The group was called Freie Theater Gießen. Nix played the piece The Pope and the Bicycle together with his partner Edgar Löber over a hundred times.

From 1985 to 1988 Nix played with Augusto Boal and Gardi Hutter . You are among his most important teachers. He appeared as a clown in the Europa Circus Bügler . In 1990, Nix went to the Berliner Ensemble as an assistant director to the well-known Brecht student Peter Palitzsch . Here he also played the Prince of Sardinia in the opening production of Shakespeare's Pericles. In 1994 he became artistic director at the theater in Nordhausen . During this time he wrote the novel Raven Hunt . Nordhausen became a "cult theater", because directors such as Armin Petras and Horst Hawemann, dissidents from the GDR era, found an artistic home here. Against the resistance of the ministerial bureaucracy, Nix became director of the Staatstheater Kassel in 1999 , an artistically extremely successful period that was politically full of intrigue. Nix reformed the music theater with directors like Sebastian Baumgarten , Antje Kaiser, Jasmina Hadziametovic, but Wolfram Mehring also staged here. Singers like Jonas Kaufmann and Annette Dasch were engaged in Kassel.

After numerous conflicts within the State Theater a. a. with the general music director and the orchestra, with an anti-Kassel citizens' initiative "Kassel has earned more than nothing", with the mayor of the city of Kassel and with the minister of culture, Nix's contract in Kassel was not renewed and he left the theater in 2004.

The Lord Mayor of Cologne , Fritz Schramma (CDU), who seemed convinced of the artistic director's qualities, first introduced Nix in 2004 as the new head of cultural affairs for the city of Cologne. Nix failed, however, due to resistance in the city council, which rejected Nix's appointment. For the city of Cologne and Christoph Nix this was an embarrassing process, because Nix had already declined the offered rectorate position at the University of Neubrandenburg, believing in a firm promise . As a result, the parliamentary group chairman Jürgen Klipper and the cultural policy spokesman Richard Blömer had to give up their offices. Nix then taught criminal law again and became chairman of the Board of Appeal to examine the efficiency of contract doctors in Lower Saxony. He expanded the local office. Together with the Vice President of the Higher Regional Court of Celle, Klaus Wilde, he published on this area of law.

Since September 2006, Nix has been artistic director at the Stadttheater in Konstanz . He prevailed on December 15, 2005 in the local council with a majority of one vote against the Hildesheim chief dramaturge Barbara Ellenberger. Since then, for the first time in its history, the Konstanz Theater has consistently had over 100,000 visitors, an ensemble with 22 actors and numerous first and world premieres. On November 17, 2008, his contract as director was unanimously extended until 2016 by the local council despite staff disputes. In the period that followed, there was public criticism of the director's management style. Because of these allegations, the director has meanwhile been rehabilitated. His contract has now been extended to 2020.

Nix is a member of the Bern Institute for Theater Studies, where he received his doctorate in October 2015 as a "Doctor Philosophiae". His study "Theater_Power_Politics" was published in 2016. In December 2018, Nix received the award for best director in Iraq for his production.

After a public invitation to tender and a hearing, the selection jury of the Tyrolean Volksschauspiele in Telfs decided on Christoph Nix as artistic director for the years 2021 to 2024.

Writer and cultural politician

Christoph Nix has now published two novels : Young Dogs (2008) and Rabenjagd (2010), as idiosyncratic contemporary works, have been positively received by critics since the 68s . The hero of his third novel, Muzungu (2018), is a Ugandan detective who brings the international arms trade into trouble. He also writes short stories .

Christoph Nix has published his cultural-political theses Culture for almost everyone both in the Berliner Tagesspiegel and in the Badische Zeitung . In August 2010 he played Pozzo in an African theater project about Waiting for Godot in Lomé . Nix is pursuing the goal of building an independent African theater in Togo .
