Katrin Stangl

Katrin Stangl (* 1977 in Filderstadt ) is a German author , illustrator , graphic designer and artist .

Stangl studied at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art and was a master student of the artist Volker Pfüller . Her work with the Brazilian woodcutter José F. Borges was supported by a DAAD scholarship .

Katrin Stangl received the Gutenberg Book Guild's 2001 Design Award for illustrating the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury . In 2005 she received the Birkner Prize for her illustrations.

In 2010 she was awarded the 5th Troisdorf picture book scholarship for Stark wie ein Bär .

Stangl's picture book Does bread float in milk? (2017) was named “ The Most Beautiful German Book 2018 ” and in December 2019 the book she illustrated, Four Candles, Three Kings, Two Eyes, a Star with Poems by Arne Rautenberg was awarded the Lynx of the Month .
