Angelo Cella

Angelo Cella MSC (born December 20, 1923 in Gorgo al Monticano , † May 27, 2008 in Rome ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino .

Life

Angelo Cella studied humanities at the seminary in the home diocese of Vittorio Veneto . In 1943 he joined the religious order of the Sacred Heart Missionaries . After studying Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he was ordained a priest on December 18, 1948 . Between 1950 and 1956 he was director of the theological seminary of his order, from 1956 pastor in the parish of Santa Teresa di Gesù Bambino in Palermo . Later he was Regens of the seminary in Palermo, secretary in the secondary office of the Sicilian Bishops' Conference and Episcopal Vicar for pastoral care in the Archdiocese of Palermo.

In 1975, Angelo Cella was founded by Paul VI. appointed titular bishop of Vissalsa and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Palermo . He was ordained bishop on October 7, 1975 by the Archbishop of Palermo and later Cardinal Salvatore Pappalardo ; Co- consecrators were Francesco Fasola , Archbishop of Messina , and Corrado Mingo , Archbishop of Monreale . On June 6, 1981, Angelo Cella was appointed Bishop of Veroli-Frosinone and Bishop of Ferentino by Pope John Paul II . In 1986 he merged the two bishoprics to form the Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino diocese.

His age-related resignation was granted in 1999 by John Paul II. He died nine years later of complications from Alzheimer's disease in the Gemelli Clinic in Rome.
