The Katzenbachsee near Zaberfeld in the southwestern district of Heilbronn is a water retention basin that is often used as a bathing lake in summer .
The reservoir is located between Zaberfeld and the hamlet of Weiler an der Zaber in the neighboring municipality of Pfaffenhofen on the hamlet of the L 1103. At the lake there is a roofed grill, a kiosk with catering and sanitary facilities, changing rooms and a small observation tower. A path leads around the lake that connects the lawns on the west, south and north banks. The smaller sunbathing lawns in the south and north are primarily reserved for nudists , the larger sunbathing lawn west of the lake is for visitors to the lake.
Hiking trails and nature trails lead from the Katzenbachsee to the surrounding area and to another nearby swimming lake, the Ehmetsklinge .
The lake serves as the club waters of the Zaberfeld fishing club, fishing is reserved for club members.
