Katzenbeißer is the name of a location in the wine-growing region around Lauffen am Neckar in the large Kirchenweinberg area in the Württemberg lowlands . It is especially famous for its red wines made from the Schwarzriesling , Trollinger , Samtrot and Lemberger grape varieties . The single location covers 572 hectares of vineyards above the Lauffen train station. 30 percent of the location is almost flat, 60 percent is moderately inclined and 10 percent of the location is terraced. The weathered soil ( loam , loamy clay ) lies on keuper , shell limestone and loess .

The majority of the individual layers are located along the Zaber on the steep slopes of the old Neckar loop, some on the slopes of the Neckar .
